Logo Creative: If your company does not have a logo, KernBuilt.com can help develop one. Think, Nike "Swish".

Image Selection and Editing: A good site has good images. Typically, images the tell the story or present an amience for the site. Effective images have models/people who present the look and feel of what your site is about. To be effective, these images should be high quality, professional images. This often under-rated portion of a site can make or break a good web presence. Don't rely on your cousin's best friend with the new digital camera here unless he's a trained photographer. Once the images are selected, there is still the sizing, cropping, editing, and color correcting.

Creative Concept Markup: This is where we'll story-board the creative ideas for you. We'll be working with images of what the site will look like to define colors, graphics, placement and overall layout. This usually takes several revisions.

Template Construction: Each site built by KernBuilt.com is based on a template. We'll take the completed creative concept and turn it into a template that will hold the rest of the site. The template usually contains the pieces of a site that are consistent on every page. Think 'navigation' and 'news articles'.

Site Build Out: This is where integrate the images and content to create the site's files. These are the pages that your users will navigate to.

Navigation/CSS Development: The menu that is consistent throughout the site is called the global navigation. It is its own animal and often ties closely with the CSS or style sheet. A nimble site has most of the look and feel in the style sheet which makes it easy to update colors and font treatments. It also gives a cohesive element to the entire site.

Content/Copy Deck: Don't underestimate the power of words. This section is the actual text that is in the site body, navigation and graphics.

Application Spec and Development: This refers to a custom or prebuilt application/program. If there is a specific feature you need it is discussed here.

Content Management System (CMS): If you don't want to be a web developer and you don't want to have to rely on one to make simple updates you'll need a CMS. Usually this is a program that lives "behind" the site and can be accessed with a user name and password. Once in, you can make updates to the site similar to the way you would edit a document in a word processing program.

Custom Error Page: Ever get that white page that says "We can't find what you're looking for?" A custom error page helps to keep users by showing more of an explanation with your site's creative. If they get to a page that doesn't exist, they're invited politely to try another.

CGI Contact Form: A form that can be filled out by a user with a question or comment. The results of the form end up in whichever email box you choose.

Automated Mailing List Sign-up: This is a script which adds willing users' email addresses to your mailing list automatically. Anyone who wants to can sign up to recieve your email updates.

Creative Survey: This document is designed to clarify the goals of your site and define an ambiance for your web presence. KernBuilt.com will refer to this document throughout the rest of the development process to ensure the highest quality result for your site.

Concept Development: During this iterative phase, we will develop and present one to three creative mockups. From these mockups we will select and refine the one that best suits your company needs to carry forward into the template development phase. The Concept phase will also include solidifying the site map and global navigation for content presentation.

Site Launch or "Go Live": We turn the site on when we get your go-ahead.
