If your site is set up for you to access and edit your own files, you will need an FTP client. For our Windows clients, we recommend FileZilla because it is efficient and free:
Download the latest copy of FileZilla (this will be at the top of the list; choose the file that ends in ".zip"
Using your expander/unZip software, expand the zipped files
Open the expanded folder and find "FileZilla.exe". Right click on this file and "Create a shortcut"
Move the new shortcut to your desktop so you can open FileZilla any time without having to search for it
Move the expanded FileZilla folder into your Program Files folder
To open FileZilla, double click the shortcut on your desktop
You will see a window like this:
Click "File" and "Site Manager"
This opens the Site Manager window (click on the image below for a larger view)
Click "New Site"
A new site will be added to the directory on the left. Click in the name field and add an identifying name (the name doesn't affect anything, so give it one that you will recognize)
On the right side of window, fill in the information as follows:
Host: ftp1.ftptoyoursite.com
Port: 21
Logontype: Normal
User: Provided to you by KernBuilt
Password: Provided to you by KernBuilt
Click "Connect" in the lower left corner
The files on the server are on the right, your files are on the left (click on the image below for a larger image)
Transfer files between the two sides.
When you are done, close the window and it will automatically disconnect.
